Lecce is intensifying its efforts to participate in the allocation of Italian stadiums that will host Euro 2032, an event that Italy will share with Turkey. On June 17, a crucial meeting will take place in Rome between the extraordinary commissioner for UEFA Euro 2032 projects, Massimo Sessa, and the president of US Lecce, Saverio Sticchi Damiani. During this meeting, the necessary interventions for the Via del Mare stadium, which has been included in the national plan of candidate facilities, will be discussed. Recently, work has begun on the refurbishment of the stadium's roof, a first step towards modernizing the facility in view of the Mediterranean Games and Euro 2032. Lecce has the opportunity to present a competitive dossier, considering the limited competition in the South. Currently, other cities in the running include Naples and Palermo, but Lecce hopes to emerge as one of the five selected venues. The dossier presentation is expected by July, with the final decision from the FIGC arriving in October. Lecce does not want to be just a participant but a key player in this important competition.
