Lecce confirmed on July 12 the squad traveling to the summer camp in Bad Loipersdorf, Austria, leaving out Christ‑Owen Kouassi, Alex Sala and Filip Marchwinski. The announcement, made on the morning of July 8, marks the first definitive list for the Serie A side’s pre‑season preparation.

Who actually goes?

Coach Fabio Sassanelli will take four goalkeepers: Wladimiro Falcone (1995), Christian Früchtl (2000), Christian Lupo (2009) and Plamen Penev (2008). Falcone, now in his fifth consecutive year, is seen as the defensive anchor. Central defenders will include Gaspar Kialonda (1997), Gaby Jean (2000), Matias Perez (2005), Jamil Siebert (2002) and Tiago Gabriel (2004), backed by Antonino Gallo (2000), Corrie Ndaba (1999) and Danilo Veiga (2002).

Why are Kouassi and Sala missing?

Kouassi, back from a loan at Laval, was placed in group 2 with Vernon Addo and Marlon Ubani, but the club chose to keep him out to consider another loan move. Sala, a 2001‑born player, was also relegated to group 2 with Ed McJannet and Niko Kovac, without a chance to join the camp. The decision reflects a desire to give more suitable youngsters a chance in the technical project.

What are the attacking updates?

The forward line remains the most in‑need area. With Nikola Stulic in the squad, the coach added Paco Esteban (2006), a promising Primavera striker, and Rares Burnete, returning from Juve Stabia. The wing will be bolstered by Hjalte Laerke (2007), fresh from the U‑19 European Championship with Denmark, and English youngster Divine Onyemachi (2007). Marchwinski, after a year without appearances, has been sent to Poland, opening a spot for new talent.

What can we expect from the camp?

The coach aims to run intensive sessions for all groups at the Fürstenfeld sports complex. Midfielders like Medon Berisha (2003) and Youssef Maleh (1998) will look to shake off recent injuries, while young defenders and attackers get a chance to prove themselves. The camp, scheduled through mid‑July, will be decisive in finalising the roster before the Serie A season kicks off.
